Also, yes, each daily stage has an ending, in case you were wondering, which tallies your overall fruit collection percentage as a score. There comes a point where you’ve seen most of what the game has to offer, but almost all the designs are competent at worst. However, Nitrome promises more updates, so there’s that.

I also really like the setup, and many parts are so subtle you can easily miss them. From the very beginning, it makes it clear that “Leap Day APK MOD” is a kind of game show, for the amusement of the citizens and their king, who’s stuck at the lowest level. I don’t know if our hero is a different gladiator each time, or if he’s trapped in the same endless daily loop, but it’s a small detail that elevates the game a bit.

As a free-to-play game, Leap Day APK MOD has a very interesting approach to in-app purchases. After reaching a new checkpoint every so often, players have the option to use the fruit they’ve acquired in the game to “shoot,” as the checkpoint is called, or watch a video ad. You don’t have to go to every checkpoint, but it’s incredibly helpful to do so since some areas are very difficult, and having to backtrack through a massive gauntlet could set you back more than you think. While I personally don’t mind watching them occasionally when I’m running low on fruit, I do wish there weren’t so many fruit varieties, as you’ll often find you’ve collected enough of almost every variety except the ones you actually need.

Alternatively, players can opt for a $3.99 purchase, which turns the game into a premium app, unlocks all checkpoints, and removes ads. Unless you’ve been playing for more than a week and are completely hooked, it’s probably not worth it, as the text ads are very unobtrusive, only appear after several subsequent deaths, and can be dismissed immediately. But it’s appreciated that it’s there, and it’s the only real in-app purchase option available for real cash. I wish more games had this, as Nitrome has every opportunity for penny-pinching players with power-ups and energy timers, but currently, it hasn’t resorted to any of that.

Without needing to spend any money, Leap Day APK MOD is the perfect option for people looking for a new platform game that warns them about fire. Some levels are randomly better than others, but tomorrow is always another day.
