Gameplay of Carrom Pool

If you have played billiards before, Carrom Pool will feel familiar almost immediately. The game follows a similar idea, but instead of balls and a cue stick, it uses flat discs called pucks and a larger disc known as the striker. The pucks are usually divided into black and white pieces, with a red Queen appearing in some modes. Each corner of the board has a pocket where players try to send their pucks.

The striker is also flat and round, but it is larger and heavier than the regular pucks. You can think of it as the cue ball in billiards. Instead of moving a puck directly, you use the striker to hit it and transfer momentum. After every shot, the striker is placed back on the horizontal baseline on your side of the board.

To take a shot, you first slide the striker left or right to choose its starting position. You then adjust the aiming line toward the puck you want to hit, pull back the power control, and release. The game simulates flicking the striker forward, and when it hits a puck, the impact sends that puck sliding across the board and potentially into one of the four corner pockets.

How to Win in Carrom Pool

As mentioned above, in Carrom Pool, you use the striker to hit the pucks and send them into the corner pockets. However, scoring correctly also depends on knowing which pieces belong to you. Each player is assigned one puck color, and the goal is to pocket all of your own pieces before your opponent does.

If you pocket one of your own pucks without committing a foul, you normally keep the turn and can take another shot. However, the next shot does not begin from wherever the striker stopped. The striker is returned to the baseline on your side of the board, where you can reposition it before aiming again. Pocketing only an opponent’s puck has the opposite effect: you help remove one of their pieces from the board, while the turn usually passes to them.

The striker also needs to stay out of the pockets. If it falls into one, the shot is counted as a foul. You lose the turn, and one of your previously pocketed pucks is returned to the center of the board as a penalty. If the same foul shot also sends one of your pucks into a pocket, that puck is returned as well, together with the additional penalty puck. Because of this, players need to balance accuracy and power instead of simply trying to hit every shot as hard as possible.

Carrom Mode Adds More Strategy in Carrom Pool

The rules described above apply to the basic Disc Pool mode in Carrom Pool. Carrom mode adds the Red Queen, which changes how players need to plan their shots. To win, you still need to pocket all of your own pucks. However, pocketing the Queen alone does not count. After pocketing the Queen, you must also pocket one of your own pucks to cover it.

This can happen across two consecutive shots. After pocketing the Queen, the striker returns to your baseline, and you take another shot. If you pocket one of your own pucks, the Queen is successfully covered. If you fail, the Queen is returned to the board.

Carrom also has stricter end-game rules. If you pocket your final puck, or your opponent’s final puck, while the Queen is still on the table, the shot is considered a foul. However, you do not need to personally pocket the Queen to win. As long as either player has already pocketed and covered it correctly, the first player to clear all of their own pucks wins the match.

Online Multiplayer in Carrom Pool

Carrom Pool is built mainly around online multiplayer, where players compete directly across different tables and arenas. Each match requires an entry fee, while winning rewards coins and helps unlock higher-level arenas.

During a match, both players place the striker on the baseline, adjust the angle and power, then try to pocket their pucks while avoiding easy opportunities for the opponent. Good shots often depend on judging collision angles, rebounds, and force rather than simply aiming straight at a puck.

Beyond player skill, multiplayer progression is also tied to the striker you use. Each striker has three stats: Force, Aim, and Time, which affect shot power, aiming guidance, and preparation time. Duplicate striker cards collected from chests can be used for upgrades, while unlocked Powers provide additional stat bonuses.

Pucks and Trails are purely cosmetic. They change the appearance of the pieces and movement effects without giving players any statistical advantage in multiplayer.
